Why is the baptism of the Holy Spirit important?

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

—Acts 1:8

The baptism of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit gives power to witness to the lost about Jesus, as well as authority over all demonic forces.

God’s Spirit is only activated when you are in Christ.

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is accompanied by 9 fruits and 9 gifts.

Jesus said, “Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.”

-Matthew 7: 17-20

The Holy Spirit also empowers us to fight against Satan and all the works of his demonic kingdom.

I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.

Luke 10:19

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

Ephesians 1:21-23

It’s crucial for us Christians to know the power and authority God has given us and to exercise that power against the enemy. The same power that raised our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from the dead is the same power and authority living in us when we’re born again and baptized with the Holy Spirit.

We have authority over ALL the works of darkness.

We don’t want to be wounded soldiers. We need to wear the full of armor of God every day. This is a spiritual battle but we will be victorious in Jesus name as we boldly take authority against the enemy who comes to steal, kill, and destroy.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

John 10:10

How to get born again:

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Romans 10:9-10

It’s important that your prayer to the Lord isn’t just words you repeat without meaning them or believing them. In order to be saved, you have to believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead. Then you confess it with your mouth. It starts from the heart.

Here’s a salvation prayer you can model:

Lord Jesus, I ask You for forgiveness and I repent of my sins. I would like a new life and believe God the Father raised You from the dead. I ask You to come into my heart as my Lord and Savior. I surrender my life to You and I thank You for saving me and answering my prayer.

How to get baptized in the Holy Spirit:

It’s important to note that the baptism of the Holy Ghost is separate from a water baptism and doesn’t automatically come when you are born-again.

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is an extra step if you want to go further with the Lord and step into the fullness of God.

If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!"

Luke 11:11-13

This is another voluntary step. If you truly want the baptism of the Holy Ghost, you can pray to the Lord, ask for it, and receive it by faith.

When you are baptized, you will see the fruits of it.

This is a huge, precious, and priceless gift that the Lord gives us, so we must treat it with resonance and the utmost respect, and carefully and intentionally decide if we want it.

With the baptism of the Holy Spirit, life truly changes in unimaginable ways!
